This year has been like no other. At the start of the year, it is unlikely that any of us could have forecast the conditions and challenges we have dealt with – and those that are still to come.
Since Myriad was founded 20 years ago, they have always taken a flexible approach to developing their business – an approach which enabled them to quickly adapt operations during this unique time.
Myriad’s Managing Director, Stephen Cleland, speaks with passion about the important role Myriad have played during the pandemic, saying, “The transport refrigeration industry has been instrumental in keeping the country running during the Covid-19 outbreak - ensuring supermarkets remained stocked and temperature-controlled medicines are delivered to those who rely on them.”
Stephen continued, “Being able to respond to changes in the market, the economy and customers’ demands has never been more important. At Myriad we take our role in the supply chain extremely seriously, which is why we have gone above and beyond to make sure our customers have been able to keep their fleet vehicles on the road and get the parts they need, when they need them.”
Keeping the doors open and the lights on during a crisis, particularly when the impact of the crisis is felt not only in the economy but by everyone in the country, is a serious challenge for businesses in all sectors.
Myriad Operations Director, Karol Smoter, remains focused on expansion plans, as lockdown measures begin to ease, “At the start of the year we had ambitious plans in place to grow the business – little did we know we would be doing it through a time of such adversity. Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, we have never lost sight of the bigger picture and our goal to be a worldwide, premium aftermarket brand, with an established network of distributors. Despite the exceptional times we are living through, Myriad has remained committed to delivering on our promise of price, performance, quality, service, and support.”.
Myriad has already supplied parts to 51 countries world-wide and has recently been working closely with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to increase the company’s global footprint.
Karol, continues, “The UK has the most advanced logistics sector in the world and refrigerated transport plays a significant part in the economy. By taking Myriad to a new global audience, using the team’s expertise to train sole distributors, we hope to make a substantial impact on the supply chain future in developing countries around the world.”
As well as working in new markets, Karol is dedicated to making sure Myriad build on their previous success, saying, “Over the past five years we have invested heavily in our infrastructure. Technology has played a central role in our success and the implementation two years ago of our advanced online ordering system, has set us even more apart from our competitors. Speed of deliver, ease of ordering and price are critical factors for our customers, particularly as budgets are being stretched more than ever.” Whether working with large fleet management companies, independent engineering firms, or start-ups, Myriad’s vision is for all their customers to have access to quality products, competitive prices, and a premium service. Karol continued, “Understandably, businesses are always looking to get better value for money, without compromising on quality of product or service, which is where Myriad can help. Refrigeration units are a great example of where big savings can be made on fleet management.”
Myriad’s Managing Director, Stephen, recognises the need to help businesses on their own growth journey, saying, “Myriad has been a key support mechanism to the growth of the independent repairers of transport refrigeration units. The ability of start-ups and smaller companies to have instant access to aftermarket discounted priced parts has allowed their businesses to both expand and compete with the larger OEM networks.” Stephen goes on to talk about the role Myriad has played in addressing this important issue, “In a world where the likes of Myriad do not exist, these independents are tied to the OEM’s for their parts, who will obviously keep them on low to no discount structures, which does not allow them to compete, in effect creating a monopoly in the repair market. Myriad has brought both value and competition to the marketplace, driving down pricing and increasing overall levels of service to support the transport refrigeration sector as a whole.”
As Myriad celebrate 20 years of delivering excellence, the team’s commitment, drive, and ambition to support quality parts at competitive prices remains as strong as ever.
